Laois people are looking forward to the Leinster Fleadh and A major feature of Leinster Fleadh 2011 will be a full size Gig Rig in Market Square on Sat 9th and Sun 10th July. This is a great opportunity for Trad Groups/Bands to display their talent to an appreciative audience and generate good publicity for themselves. Every effort will be made to accommodate applicants but timetable may be limited – committee decision is final. The Fleadh committee is an entirely voluntary body, please make early contact to facilitate planning. To secure a place on the programme please submit details our Gig Rig Organisers.

If any counties or branches have a group of musicians and dancers we would be glad to accommodate them with a slot on the gig rig. The places will be allocated on a first come first served basis, but as far as possible all groups will be accommodated. We will be able to seat approximately 20 musicians and maybe 6 dancers or so at the same time. Groups in excess of 20 may have to stand at the back of the chairs and may restrict the room for the dancers. The content will have to be mainly traditional/ballad type, strictly not rock, heavy metal type music allowed. Smaller groups with shorter programmes are also welcome. Entries from Leinster Provence will get first preference. A sample video/dvd may be required of the group.

There will be a cut off date of the 10th June in order to arrange a time table and running order. Each group will perform for a max of one hour which will include getting seated, miked up , performing and clearing the stage, but this time may shorten if the entries demand. The rig will run on Saturday and Sunday if enough entries materialise. Last group will start at 11 pm each night.

Any group interested could email our Gig Rig Organisers or ring 087 2202048 after 9pm. Give a preferred day and approximate time and we'll try to accommodate as much as possible!
